At WTW, a key focus for Group Tax is to manage global tax compliance, reporting and statutory accounting obligations through outsourcing, transformation and technology.
WTW has launched a search for an (Assistant) Manager, Operational Excellence to assist the Director in identifying tax technology needs, opportunities for process improvements, automation and increased efficiency, helping to create best practices for the tax function.
This is a multi-faceted role and provides a unique opportunity to help establish new processes for the tax team, working in collaborative partnership across WTW’s IT and finance operations.
The role focuses on tax transformation, process improvement, automation, AI and the integration of cutting-edge technologies to drive better visibility, greater efficiency and improved risk management across the organisation.
The development of the new global minimum tax regime by the OECD, agreed by more than 130 countries, has also created strong demand for tax transformation work in the UK and globally.
WTW is looking for a talented Manager to join the team in any European or Asian office, although flexibility on location will be considered.
The role:
- Assist the Tax Operational Excellence Director with the delivery of tax transformation and technology projects, with a particular focus on Pillar 2 and financial reporting under US GAAP;
- Support a data-intensive, continuous improvement culture with specific goals and initiatives;
- Support the implementation of tax technology solutions and AI;
- Document the design, build and deployment of automation solutions designed for Tax;
- Work with the Tax Operational Excellence Director to develop robust global governance and control frameworks;
- Engage with key stakeholders in tax, including direct tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing, on initiatives to automate processes, improve quality and enhance controls;
- Work with project teams and IT as a subject matter expert on assigned applications.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience in technology, including programming, application development, software implementation and automation, and/or tax, with emphasis on transformation, data and reporting;
- Experience improving processes, driving automation and delivering value;
- Experience in change management and stakeholder management;
- Tax compliance and tax reporting automation expertise, particularly around international tax or direct tax compliance;
- Familiarity with end-to-end finance processes, particularly financial reporting under US GAAP, IFRS or other local GAAPs;
- Experience with Fabric data lakes and similar technologies;
- Experience with data, analytics and workflow automation tools, such as Power BI;
- Experience with financial systems supporting tax reporting and tax compliance processes;
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present issues and recommendations clearly and concisely;
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills;
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, finance and IT teams.
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of data, databases, data transmission and data transformation;
- Understanding of structured query language, SQL;
- Experience implementing new processes for new tax regimes;
- Ability to act as a functionality translator between technology teams and tax teams.
