We are looking for a **Hot & Cold Forging Engineer** to join a project with one of our clients operating in the **Automotive and Defence sectors**.
**This position is** **100% on-site in Portugal** **. Candidates must be available and willing to relocate to Portugal if they are currently based abroad.**
## Responsibilities and Tasks
– Perform product testing and failure analysis.
– Determine product feasibility.
– Analyse engineering sketches, specifications, data, and related drawings to determine design factors such as part size, shape, and layout.
– Collaborate with Production and Sales teams to ensure product objectives and manufacturing capabilities are aligned.
– Design overall machining layouts and calculate angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverage, and feature locations.
– Calculate the magnitude, direction, and point of application of tensile, compressive, and bending forces, and develop the geometric shape of parts to accommodate operational loads.
– Prepare detailed multi-view drawings of parts and assemblies, including specifications for gear ratios, bearing loads, and the direction and interaction of moving parts.
– Modify part designs to correct functional deficiencies or reduce manufacturing issues.
– Measure machines and components prior to production to ensure compliance with project specifications.
– Use computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) software and equipment to develop designs.
– Coordinate and lead project meetings and design reviews.
– Design and detail manufacturing drawings, from initial concept through to finished products.
– Work with suppliers to resolve production issues and support new product development.
– Communicate with and provide technical support to customers, engineers, and external sales representatives regarding technical issues or new product development.
– Deliver presentations to internal and external customers.
### Requirements
**Mandatory Requirements**
– **Education:** Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, although not essential for candidates who demonstrate significant experience and strong technical expertise in the field.
– **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in **Hot and Cold Forging processes**, within industries manufacturing technical components, preferably for the **Automotive industry**.
– **Languages:** English.
– **Technical Skills:** Knowledge of **SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, QForm simulation**, or similar tools.
– **Location:** Availability to work **100% on-site in Portugal**.
