European Sales Director for Ophthalmology / Ophthalmic Surgery (m/f/d)

Our client is an emerging global ophthalmic medical device company with start-up character and manufacturer of developing next-generation laser solutions for the treatment of retina and glaucoma disease. The company is comprised of worldwide industry leaders and experts in ophthalmology, laser technology, medical device development and customer care.

For the expansion of the activities, we are looking for a:

European Sales Director for Ophthalmology / Ophthalmic Surgery (m/f/d)

As European Sales Manager (m/f/d) in the Distributor Management, you will be responsible for achieving revenue and EBIT growth in the designated areas within the European countries through implementation of sales, marketing and commercial strategies. This will involve the optimization of commercial business with existing products, developing concepts and strategies to expand business with distribution partners and ensuring that new products and services for distribution partners are launched efficiently. You are an ambitious, result driven sales talent and are ready to take the next step.

As European Sales Director (m/f/d) you are also responsible for:

defining, analysing and achieving annual budget targets
carrying out projects with regional representatives and partners to enhance business performance (e.g., by examining and defining the structures necessary to achieve P&L objectives in line with corporate strategy)
exploring ways of improving the positioning of existing products and services including analysis of performance KPIs and competitor monitoring
development of concepts to further expand the business through various routes to market and ensuring efficient product launches and services for distribution partners
acting as an interface between our client and partners such as suppliers, regulatory affairs, legal and marketing
leading, developing and controlling distribution partners including regular business reviews, changes on the distribution partner network and seeking for new partners
working on projects with third parties to enter new markets and launch new products
providing guidance for implementation and tracking roll-out and compliance
participation in national and international trade fairs and congresses

YOUR PROFILE

experienced in commerce and marketing and a higher degree in business studies / management / field of healthcare
several years of experience in managing distributors in Europe in the medical device industry or the pharmaceutical industry
A strong existing network / relationships with ophthalmic device distributors in the region will be a big plus
Extensive experience with sales and distribution of ophthalmic equipment (preferably laser photocoagulators specifically)
A strong existing connection to end-users will be a big plus
work experience in an international (matrix) organization and in the European region
a strong customer service focus and outstanding goal and target orientation
project management skills
result driven personality, team player and excellent communicator – both verbally and in writing – with strong negotiation skills
pronounced entrepreneurial capabilities coupled with strong analytical skills, well structured, creative and able to “think out of the box”
fluency in written and spoken English is a prerequisite, knowledge of German or any other European language would be desirable
intercultural understanding and unlimited willingness to travel
