Job Summary:

Elevate Accounting is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounting Technician and Operations Manager to join our team in Lagos, Portugal. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our office, and supporting our Certified Accountant, including our tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll services. You will possess a strong working knowledge of accounting principles and be capable of handling essential accounting tasks. Your primary responsibilities will include meeting with clients, ensuring client work is completed on time, assisting with bookkeeping, payroll processing, tax filings, handling paperwork, and providing critical support to our team and clients.

Responsibilities:

Overall, ensuring that the office is operating effectively, deadlines are being met, and supporting our certified accountants with accounting tasks. You will work directly with the company’s owner in order to keep the firm on track to meet its goals.

More specifically your tasks will include:

Collaborate with the Certified Accountant to process client paperwork and ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
Manage office tasks and ensure tasks are completed on time, meeting or exceeding expectations that have been set with clients.
Interact with clients (primarily English speaking) via email, phone calls, and in person meetings.
Assist in bookkeeping tasks, including scanning, data entry, reconciliation, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Assist with payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments and compliance with regulations.
Support in preparing tax returns and VAT filings for our clients.
Work closely with the team to provide critical financial insights and support decision-making processes.
Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation.

Qualifications:

Strong English skills, both written and spoken, as this will be the primary language for most of our clients
Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Strong organizational skills
Experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing, and tax submissions, preferably in a Contabilista firm.
Proficiency in accounting software and tools.
Detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent analytical skills.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.
