We’re actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Project Director in the seamless execution of the development initiatives shaping a new destination in the Algarve, Portugal.

Your Role:

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our development projects, working closely with our Project Director to ensure effective management, oversight, and execution. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in navigating complex challenges and steering our initiatives toward successful outcomes.

The Senior Project Engineer will work under the guidance of the Project Development Director but may also take on some autonomous responsibilities.

The purpose is to support the project with diverse activities and tasks such as managing all phases of the project including planning, design, development, operational supervision, inspection and approval, and executing the formal acceptance of the completion of works based on control, quality and conformity of the Project. This will include ongoing and onsite presence, participation in meetings, ordering supplies, controlling budgets, reviewing bids, support the subcontractor selection, make onsite inspections, build estimates, support purchasing, liaising with buyers, hotel operator and public entities, issuing reports and establishing liaisons between the different departments or teams involved in the project.

Amongst other tasks, the general responsibilities, will include:

Managing and coordinating all the phases of the Project, including planning, design, development, and completion of works, with special focus on the stages of analysis, study and preliminary or complementary projects, with special emphasis on the control and optimization of costs, deadlines, and quality
Coordinating Environmental Planning and complying with existing rules in the areas of Environmental/Urban Planning/Spatial Planning
Coordinating and intervening in the realization of preliminary studies, preliminary projects, licensing projects and implementation projects
Executing or supervising procurement
Performing the selection, management, and coordination of contractors
Monitoring the coordination of Work Safety, Health, and Hygiene on site
Performing commissions, surveys, and provisional receptions
Coordinating and obtaining the operating / utilization licenses in the various entities
Fragmenting the stages and strategic goals of the project into real initiatives, tasks, and actions, based on coordination, resources and thereto related interdependencies
Supporting the Marketing, Sales, and Legal Departments
Preparing, in partnership with the final operator, the maintenance agreements and management;
Accompany and liaise with the Hotel Operator to carry out management, coordination and compliance of the existing specifications and agreements.

Qualifications / Skills required:

Degree in Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or Architecture
Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Project Management, with special focus on tourist resorts.
Solid knowledge of construction management procedures and project management
Proven experience in 5-star resort/hotel projects
Experience in licensing processes of tourist enterprises
Good communication and negotiation skills
Good team spirit and strong leadership skills
Ability to work under pressure, coupled with good time management and resilience.
Experience with engineering/project management software
Consolidated knowledge of quality and safety standards
Experience in standards and specifications of Resort/Hotel Operators
Vision of production with respect to sustainability and respect for the environment, as an essential pillar of the Project
Ability to organize and multi-task, working in a dynamic environment with a positive can-do attitude
Ability to process and articulate information with attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
Be resourceful and proactive
Demonstrate good judgment in investigating problems and problem-solving skills to complex projects
High level of integrity, motivation and commitment to team and all stakeholders
Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
