Job Title: Sous Chef

Location: Horta, Faial Island

Salary: €28,000 gross per month

Are you an experienced Sous Chef who speaks Portuguese and English, and do you live or are you looking to relocate to one of Azores beautiful islands?

As a Sous Chef, you will ensure that their high standards are met. We are working with this FANTASTIC boutique hotel that has been recognized with international and national awards not only for their location and service but also for providing their guests exceptional and unforgettable experiences with their excellent quality of rooms and food.

What will you do?

Supports Executive sous Chef and Executive Chef in daily operations management
Leads the team in absence of his superiors
When necessary, manage autonomously one of the hotel’s kitchens
Interact with clients in Portuguese or English, presenting dishes or show cooking
Participates in new or special menu’s elaboration
Supports in HACCP system control and maintenance
Performs administrative tasks such as requisitions, inventories, technical files
Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately

Who are you?

At least 3 years of experience in similar job
Training in cuisine / pastry
Experience in restaurants or 5* hotels
Proficiency in Portuguese and English necessary
Planning and organization skills
Ability to train others and share knowledge
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate would be a plus
