The BSS Engineer can expect to focus on the following areas:
Customer touch point management and CRM
Digital and Sales Channels
Billing, rating, mediation, payments and financial Management
Enterprise Management systems
The day to day will consist of:
Design and engineer new solutions and services which maximise overall business value and minimise time to benefit realisation, without compromising the overall quality
Production of technical documentation (HLD’s, LLD’s, WO’s, etc.) for all solutions produced
Produce and Maintain an updated documentation catalogue per service/application
Ensure that solutions consider longer-term technical debt and impact on pertinent roadmaps
Define solutions that facilitate fast realisation of business benefits
Guarantee that solutions represent good economic value to Truphone and therefore consider total life costs (build, maintains, retire) and continuously optimize the existing ones.
Work with other relevant teams (Architecture, Development, and other Engineering teams, Infrastructure, Operations, OSS and Performance) as part of a project team for the delivery of new solutions.
Analyse, specify and validate new solutions, functionalities, technologies, equipment and tools
Build and analyse capacity, performance and dimensioning plans for each service/application
Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors of the different products
Develop, document and maintain functional test plan and test cases
Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
Skills and Experience
Five or more years in systems engineering and/or system administration experience, in the BSS domain.
Experience in producing standard Software Development Live Cycle (SDLC) designs including Impact Assessments, logical High Level Designs and physical LLD’s
Practical knowledge of middleware integration solution (Red Hat JBOSS preferred)
Proven experience of integration with Web related technologies (Web Applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures)
Expertise in Business Process Integration, Service Orchestration, and Routing
Experience with XML, XSLT , XSD, WSDL , WADL, SOAP, Rest
Knowledge of UML and other modelling methods
Relevant experience of a telecoms service provider frameworks, and particularly with core processes of fulfilment, assurance and billing.
Experience in managing and driving suppliers and vendors (internal/external) in projects, including requirements definition up to solution acceptance.
An understanding of ITIL and its relationship with other best practices.
Familiarity with quality, security, and risk management practices including relevant ISO standards.
