Eurofins is a scientific leader in food, environment and pharmaceutical products testing and in agroscience CRO services. One of its Portuguese companies is Eurofins Lab Environment Testing Portugal, mostly dedicated to asbestos samples analysis. This company is located in Paredes and is hiring a Controller.

Position Summary:

As the leader of local finance team, you need to manage the local finance team, setting personal and team objectives and goals that support both business priorities and individual development plans. You will be responsible for managing monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and implementing standard processes and systems in close collaboration and alignment with the Group Finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

Accouting and Controlling

Manage monthly, quarterly and yearly closings and reporting, ensuring that is timely within corporate deadlines
Implement the Group’s procedures and enforce adherence
Ensuring a robust financial control environment through the implementation and provision of appropriate governance and authorization processes
Manage internal and external auditors
Organize the budgeting process and in particular be fully responsible of the coordination of the budget process and the forecasting exercises and support the BU Managers in preparing their budgets
Monitor monthly performance vs. budget and prior years, support business units in taking corrective actions to achieve targets
Manage budget reforecasting processes when required
Delivery of regular internal management reporting and analysis
Provide management with ad hoc analysis and support as needed
Assist, prepare and propose annual budget and 3 year plan. Report on any deviations to deliver agreed upon results
Oversee banking and reconciliation activities

Banking, Insurance, Tax & Legal

Ensure relationship with Banking Institutions
Supervise the credit collection and manage working capital and cash
Prepare internal funding requests
Manage the local insurances
Coordinate the support given by external tax & legal consultants

Mergers & Acquisitions

Support Due Diligence processes for targeted companies
Lead the restructuring, integration and management of newly acquired companies

Contribution to the Global Finance Organization

Support the implementation and monitor application of Group Finance Procedures
Participate in Group Finance Projects
Support the identification and implementation of Best Practices

The Successful Applicant

Degree in finance, management, economics or similar relevant field
3 years of previous experience in similar positions
Strong financial and analytical skills, with demonstrated knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles and distribution costing principles
Understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow dynamics
Appreciation of the importance of a robust financial control environment and governance processes with an up to date knowledge of key accounting policies relevant to Eurofins
High level of IT knowledge (word, excel, access)
Fluency in English (both written and oral)
Deadline driven
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (e.g. oral and written communication skills, presentation skills) as this role will interface with leaders of the Group as well as local resources and experts.
Strong sense of responsibility and autonomy
Organizational skills with ability to successfully manage multiple incoming tasks, prioritize appropriately
Ability to work under pressure, in a fast paced dynamic and ever-changing work environment
