About Secret City Trails

Secret City Trails takes travellers and locals on urban adventures – or city discovery games. During the games you solve a trail of riddles via our web app. Using a web app means no downloads are needed, just a little data. As you solve the clues you explore a city’s hidden gems and unlock stories about the sights and area you are in, as well as (secret) recommendations to wonderful cafes and bars. The trails are a playful, off-the-beaten-track and self-guided way of discovering a city.

In the past year and a half, co-founders Wendy and Kristina created discovery games in 11 cities across Europe. This month, we’ve launched our first games developed by local creatives/city heroes, taking us to 13 cities! Over the next 6 months we intend to work with 60 local game builders and by the end of 2019, we will have a community of over 300 game builders. This means we need to upgrade our tech stack and code to ensure the product is ready to scale!

As a startup, we champion curiosity. Empower playfulness – in the broadest sense of the word. We hustle – we love people who get sh*t done! And we care about collaboration and building our venture together.

The role:

  • You will be part of a core team that owns the entire product tech stack, enabling games to be created and played.
  • Building a new personal (log in) area for game creators (individuals & organisations) which let’s them create games, submit them for review and update their games.
  • Adding high impact new game features for game players – helping to make the games even more sticky! (current NPS is already 8,9/10).
  • Optimising the website sales funnel from landing to game play.
  • Ensuring the tech stack is robust and scalable, ready for a huge uptick in game creators and players, think 1000s games in play at any one time!

In short, you will make sure the platform runs smoothly, we are using the best technology for the problem, and everything is set up for scale – and stays scalable.
