Department Profile

The mission of the Operations Department, where BackOffice is integrated, is to assist the Business in achieving its financial, operational, and strategic goals while maintaining efficiency, risk minimization and compliant with all different Regulations.

We seek to accomplish this by: automating the most tasks possible in order to focus on the real problems; identifying institutional risks; performing several reconciliations; augmenting efficiency through effective education and training programmes; and fostering the values of knowledge, honesty, integrity, respect and professionalism as outlined in Itaú’s values.We aim to ensure, the best partnership with all the other Departments in order to bring the most value added to the Bank with a full knowledge of the entire process.


Economic: Assure the timely settlement of both cash and securities for all products traded by the Bank.

Geographical coverage: Itau BBA International plc – Portugal Branch.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Payments execution;
  • Perform daily monitoring and management of the settlement of securities and derivatives trades;
  • Daily reconciliation;
  • Derivatives confirmation analysis and control.

Technical/Business skills & Knowledge

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong academic background and evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Exposure to, and hands on experience of, at least two of the following products:
    • Banking products – Loans, Deposits, Trade Finance, Invoice financing and forfaiting;
    • Trading Products – Money Market, Spots, FX Swaps;
    • Derivatives – IRS, FX / Equity Options, Structured Products, Non Deliverable Forwards, Deliverable Forwards, Futures, Credit Default Swaps
    • Equity and Fixed Income sales

Candidate Profile

The successful candidates should:

  • Pragmatic, proactive and self-learning individual;
  • Ability to work with a great deal of autonomy in a demanding environment;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and organized;
  • Relevant degree qualification with strong academics in economics/finance;
  • Experience with securities settlements, namely within Clearstream and Euroclear environment (preferential being given to the first one);
  • SWIFT and Payments experience;
  • At least 5 years experience;
  • Strong MS Office skills;
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese
