May support areas by participating in emergency and 24/7 duty. Is active in networking and knowledge sharing. Develops processes, tools and working methods.

Position Description

The key purpose of the role is to prepare the most complex physical and logical designs as well as provisioning, configuration and troubleshooting of CPE, PE and P routers and aggregation switches. Among other responsibilities, Senior Design and Configuration Engineer will be required to prepare site survey forms, rack layouts, physical schematics and floor plans as well as configuration designs and scripts for deployment and migration activities. Senior Design and Configuration Engineer provides guidance and mentoring in the area of expertise, organization, behaviors or competencies to more junior personnel.

Key responsibilities

  • Creating site survey forms for the field engineers and validating the results of the site survey based on the agreed standards
  • Creating and modifying rack layouts, physical schematics and updating floor plans
  • Preparing consumables and equipment lists and cable schedules as well as cooperation with the ordering team for the timely delivery of the required materials
  • Building work packs (instructions and implementation plans) for the field engineers for on-site activities
  • Acting as primary point of technical contact throughout the order process
  • Maintaining a customer-oriented manner and professional relationship with customers, service organization and internal teams
  • Meeting or exceeding KPI goals set for the position concerning customer satisfaction ratings and performance measures
  • Mentoring and coaching and delivering training for the junior personnel
  • Preparing training documentation, methods of procedures, work instructions and cooperating with Expert Team to ensure knowledge is well documented
  • Supporting other Team Leader’s and Senior Management’s ad hoc requests
  • Coordinating (via phone) and supporting equipment staging, on-site physical installations and commissioning (rack, fibers, equipment)
  • Executing transmission testing
  • Validating and auditing customer network architecture and current configuration
  • Preparing configuration designs and scripts based on the official documentation and standards
  • Planning and preparing migration plans
  • Executing day and night deployment, integration and migration activities
  • Troubleshooting and solving network issues
  • Updating databases and systems, preparing documentation and reports required by the customer
  • Effectively documenting customer issues and delays and partnering with customer teams for resolution of the dependencies
  • Ensuring efficient communication regarding the executed activities
  • Providing inputs to the PMO Reporting team

Position Requirements

  • A degree level in an engineering discipline (Engineering, Computer Science, IT)
  • At least 5 year experience in IT / Telecommunications industry
  • An industry-related proven record of network provisioning environment or physical design engineer
  • Preference for Cisco CCIE-RS/CCIE-SP/CCDE level, Juniper JNCIE-SP and NOKIA NRSA and physical design experience.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of router and switches configuration and IP/MPLS technology
  • Good understanding of network migration testing procedures
  • Capability of prioritizing, coordinating, and managing multiple orders and tasks at the same time
  • Willingness to develop in physical, logical and configuration designs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team at the same time, with strict attention to detail
  • Action oriented, willingness to take accountability and making decisions under time pressure and supporting non-technical Project Leaders
  • Ability to communicate freely within multinational team and work in a virtual team environment
  • Language competence: English (capable to negotiate technically both verbally and in writing)
    Project-related KPIs as per the project’s KPI matrix
