Role: MI Report Developer

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the largest project undertaken by the UK & Ireland business unit. Working with the Management Information (MI) workstream to deliver a suite of reports that will service both internal and external customers’ needs across all areas of our broker business from financial, operational, sales to of course underwriting.

You will work alongside a UK based report specification analyst to deliver the end to end reporting (against tight deadlines). Utilising existing reporting tools such as Cognos BI, Excel and Pro-Clarity along with future visualisation tools. Upon delivery the role will develop into a reporting expert including provision of training, maintenance and enhancement of the existing suite, participation in the integration of future reporting tools and projects.

There will be a high level of interaction with senior business people across the various functions, so being comfortable building strong relationships, alongside technical aspects of the role is essential. There will be a desire for some travel of at least 2-3 times per year to various offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 100% Report Developer
  • Report production & trend analysis
  • Ensure reports are accurate and delivered within a given deadline
  • Delivery of a high standard, user friendly and accurate output
  • Report maintenance & continuous enhancement to ensure reporting is fit for purpose
  • Provide training to the business in how to access and interpret data effectively
  • Recognise & research issues highlighted by reports

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Strong background in report development using MI visualisation tools
  • Ability to understand and implement report specifications with business requirements
  • High level of numeric competence
  • Strong desire to improve processes and gain efficiencies where possible
  • In a quick paced environment, you must be able to use your own initiative to get work completed on time and to a consistently high standard
  • Ability to prioritise work and work effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met and stakeholders are kept up to date

Preferred

  • Prior experience to data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos Cognos 10+, Reporting services etc…
  • Good BI knowledge
  • Good knowledge of SQL Server (especially using Data Warehouse models)
  • Previous insurance industry experience
  • Educated to degree level or relevant experience

Provides valuable information across all levels of the organisation offering transparency / strategic insight to drive performance and enable management to achieve goals. Situated across 3 locations: London, Lisbon and Colchester. The role is part of an expanding team that is adapting to the desire of the business for more data, the changing regulatory needs of the insurance industry and the evolution of our technology. As a member of the team, there will be a balance between technical skills and systems expertise along with business knowledge and commercial acumen.
