Microsoft is developing the platforms and services that deliver the power of Azure cloud services to a heterogeneous world of connected devices, and we are hiring a deeply technical individual to partner with an IoT Solution Sales Professional (SSP) to drive the adoption and sales of Microsoft’s Azure IoT Suite and IoT Services (IoT hub, Stream Analytics, ML and more).

The IoT Technical Solution Professional (TSP) must be comfortable with the broad Azure technical landscape (infrastructure components, security, data, and analytics), as well as familiarity with Windows and key relevant OS platforms (Linux, Android, etc.) as we target heterogeneous deployments.

The IoT TSP will have rich IoT solution area expertise in pursuit of internal, customer and partner credibility and thought leadership. The TSP will support the efforts of the sales team, lead the technical engagement with customers and partners, as well as serve as a primary liaison between the SSPs and the Product Management and Engineering teams within the business group. This individual will also assist the SSPs in developing a scalable approach to drive impactful presales technical engagements at enterprises (demos, Proof of Value, competitive “bake offs” etc.) – as well as evangelizing and leading a vibrant IoT “technical tribe” (internal and external).

This role requires strong teaming with IoT TSPs in other geographies (EMEA and WW) and will be in close collaboration with the partner community (both global SIs and regional SIs and ISVs).

This partner collaboration will consist of periodic architectural assistance, co-selling and participation in readiness activities ancillary to what is available as a part of Microsoft Partner Network.

The key KPIs for this role are driving customer & partner adoption of Azure IoT related services (including IoT Hub and IoT Suite) with deployed and referenceable solutions and delivering rich customer/partner technical & market insights to peers, business leads and product management & Engineering teams.

Key responsibilities for the role:

  • Participate in team planning activities; and participate in Solution Briefings, where the Technical Sales Professional is resourceful in driving cost-effective ways of moving opportunities forward such as delivering technical sales presentations, Architectural Design Sessions, & Proof of Concepts which will be the biggest part of this delivery
  • Conduct self-research, learning and readiness to develop strong community relationships including both external and internal Microsoft Services. Additional tasks include the education and knowledge transfer of products and Enterprise Cloud Architecture to team members and other TSPs
  • Demonstrate the business value of Microsoft’s Azure PaaS and IoT solutions with Technical Presentations, Demonstrations and Architecture sessions and as needed execute a POC based on an understanding of the customer’s enterprise IT architecture and the competitive landscape including both 1st and 3rd party solutions that contributes to Microsoft business
  • Successfully conduct Technical Presentations and Architectural Design Sessions by validating and determining relevant products. After the engagement, TSPs need to complete technical elements of the solution proposal together with partner and/or Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS), and add specific value by driving pipeline velocity and ensuring alignment between architecture and customer business problems
  • Select a core set of partners for each opportunity, develop successful business relationships with each, and develop their readiness.

To be successful, the ideal candidate will have proven success in the following competencies:

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in solution-based, technical selling to senior technical and business decision makers
  • Solid understanding of technical Cloud landscape (infrastructure components, security, data, and analytics), as well as familiarity with Windows and key IoT device platforms (Linux, Android, etc.).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Embedded / M2M / IoT industry experience
  • Azure-related sales experience with proven track record of driving cloud solution deployment and consumption.
  • Programming/IoT protocol skills – C, SQL, .NET, JavaScript, Python, REST, JSON, AMQP, MQTT, CoAP.
  • Vertical market experience in one or more of the following: Manufacturing, Healthcare, Logistics, Smart Infrastructure, Transportation
  • Experience with professional services engagements
  • Project management; leveraging and orchestrating internal and external resources to do what’s right for the customer and for the organization
