The Digital Platform Product Owner (PO) is responsible for driving the evolution of a set digital platforms. Some of the platforms are public (e.g. website, community, stores, support center, etc) while others are internal (e.g. ticketing, CRM, quote-to-cash, etc).

Digital platforms are a key piece of acquiring, growing, and supporting customers and partners at scale, and are at the heart of efficient operation here at OutSystems.

This is a high visibility and impact role, responsible for driving the worldwide OutSystems digital experience in great collaboration with other teams around OutSystems.

About You as a PO

As a PO, you play a critical role understanding the OutSystems’ customer journey and driving the creation of the online platform that supports that journey in an elegant, consistent, and engaging way. You know that a B2B customer journey is complex, and you strive to always make sure your online platforms achieve your customer’s goals. At the same time, you understand that the customer experience mimics the employee experience, making it imperative that internal systems are also streamlined for a very efficient operation.

Every day you wake up with an extreme desire to improve your understanding of the customer, the marketplace, and the company’s strategy. You use this understanding to elaborate and communicate a well crafted roadmap that carefully balances all of these forces. You take this roadmap and make it actionable and clear to the delivery team, to bring your vision to fruition.

Your team looks at you as the driving force, a leader of a world class digital delivery machine that is capable of enormous engineering and design feats. The digital delivery team expects you to challenge and lead the way everyday, by making yourself completely available to meet their needs, but more importantly to represent the end customer in all decisions made.

You have enough technical skills to be able to “walk the walk”, but you know you bring more value when you are not knee deep in code. Your team respects you for that decision, but they know they can get to a deep level of detail with you when needed.

You never, ever, confuse “this is what the change request says” with “understanding and solving real customer problems.” You are hands on and you welcome input from everywhere, because you are genuinely curious about the world, but you have a healthy disrespect for the status quo and you challenge it to understand the root cause of problems.

You are a master at balancing the long term strategic vision with the quick decision making needed by a team working at a world changing speed. You balance “just enough” documentation for learning purposes with great face to face collaboration with your team.

Although you value quantitative information and data driven decisions, you know nothing substitutes talking to actual customers and prospects to get great insights about where you need to take your product in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aggregate input from customers, market, and internal stakeholders into consistent strategy drivers
  • Act as the “go to” person for any product related decision (even if you can’t make the decision yourself)
  • Provide clear, on time decisions to anything your team needs to move forward
  • Define a clear vision of what needs to be built or evolved, and convey that vision to the delivery team
  • Build, groom, prioritize, and communicate the Digital Platform product backlog
  • Educate and contextualize the delivery team in the business domain to ensure alignment
  • Manage dependencies with other OutSystems teams, negotiating and reprioritizing as appropriate
  • Prepare and execute flawless launch programs including team coordination and communication
  • Facilitate team access to expert resources needed on key areas like UX, Architecture, and Technology

Critical Requirements

  • Very strong communication skills in any medium – written, presentation, spoken, sketching, one-on-one;
  • Experience in digital agencies, technology companies, or design driven companies is a plus;
  • Strategic mindset with a bias for concrete action & flawless execution;
  • High level of creativity and lateral thinking to address complex problems;
  • Competitive mindset and willingness to be the best in market;
  • Personal energy and ability to inspire teams and individuals;
  • Transparency and ability to establish long lasting trusting and supportive relationships with your team and all other stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in leading technology projects;
  • Experience in digital systems (website, web app, mobile app) delivery and process design;
  • Experience in using Agile approaches;
  • Demand management or product management experience is a plus;
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken (mandatory).
